CREUZBURG

State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Wartburgkreis (until 1994 Eisenach)
Additions : 1994 Scherbda
Incorporated into : 2020 Amt Creuzburg

Wappen von Creuzburg/Arms (crest) of Creuzburg
Official blazon
German In Blau eine dreitürmige silberne Burg mit geschlossenem goldenem Tor, der starke Mittelturm mit einem goldenen Kreuz.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms simply show a fortified town (Burg) with a small cross (Kreuz) and thus are canting. The composition already appeared on seals from the 13th century. Creuzburg received city rights in 1213 from Count Hermann I and it is likely that the seal was made in the same year.
