Region : Catalonia
Province : Barcelona

Cerdanyolav.png

Official blazon

Escut caironat partit: 1r. d'argent, un lleó d'atzur coronat d'or armat i lampassat de gules, la bordura dentada d'atzur; i al 2n d'or, 4 pals de gules; ressaltant sobre la partició un pal de sinople carregat d'una espasa d'argent guarnida d'or. Per timbre una corona de marquès.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 7, 1987.

These arms show different aspects of the history of Cerdanyola: the lion is taken from the arms of the Marimon family, the marquises of the town (at the top of the arms there is also a marquis crown); the sword is the symbol of St. Martin, the local patron saint; finally, there are the royal arms of Catalonia-Aragon (four red pales on gold), remembering the ancient royal palace of Valldaura.
