Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 5, 1974.

The right half shows the black and golden bars of the Dukes of Mantua for the patron saint of the city, Saint King Luiz Gonzaga, who was related to the dukes of Mantua. The left half shows two canting cedar fruits.

The shield is surrounded by coffee and rice branches, the main agricultural crops in the area.
