Administrative division

Bulgaria is divided into 27 provinces and a metropolitan capital province (Sofia-Grad). All provinces take their names from their respective capital cities. The provinces are subdivided into 264 municipalities. Each municipality contains a number of villages, with limited self governance.

Heraldry

Many municipalities and villages use arms. Only a few provinces use some heraldic device.
