Crest : A demi lion gules holding between the paws a railway wheel argent.
Supporters: On either side a lion guardant gules charged on the shoulder with a railway wheel argent.
Motto: Velociter et securiter

Origin/meaning

Granted by the College of Arms on May 17, 1956. Transferred to the British Railways Board on February 20, 1963.

The symbolism is a green field for open countryside; barrulets for railways; wheels for road and rail transport; portcullis for ports and harbours.

The motto VELOCITER SECURITER means swift and sure. Literature:
