'''BREMERVÖRDE (BRV)'''
===Origin/meaning===
The arms are based on the oldest known seal of the city, which is known since 1389. The seal and the arms show the image of St. Liborius of Le Mans, patron saint of the city. The person was described in older documents as St. Peter, the patron saint of the state and diocese of Bremen. The Archbishops of Bremen built a castle, around which the city developed. The composition was officially granted as arms in 1948.

====Origin/meaning====
The arms were granted on February 23, 1938.

The horse in the arms symbolises both the State of Niedersachsen as the formerly important horse breeding in the area. The lower part of the arms shows the arms of the Archdiocese of Bremen, to which the area originally belonged. The two crossed keys are the symbol of St. Peter.
