BREITFURT

State : Saarland
District (Kreis) : Saarpfalz Kreis
Incorporated into : 1974 Blieskastel

Wappen von Breitfurt

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 15, 1970.

The first and fourth quarter show the initials of the village, which were already used on the local seal, known since 1738. Until 1970 the village used the letters as arms, see image below.

The second quarter shows wheat ears as a symbol for the agricultural character of the municipality. The third quarter shows an important archaeological artifact found in the village, two large equestrian statues, which now are in the museum in Speyer. The colours are those of the Pfalz (gold/black and silver/blue) as until 1920 the village belonged to the Pfalz.
