Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 20, 1952.

The lower half of the arms shows the arms of the Lalaing family, with a label to indicate a branch of the family. The Lalaing family ruled the area from 1386-1475 and again from 1490-1574.

The chief shows a water mill wheel, symbol of the local development and industry, and two sheep, for the local agriculture.
