The arms were officially granted on May 12, 1967.
The arms show a red bar, taken from the arm of the diocese of Münster and the escarbuncle of the Duchy of Kleve. The village was a possession of the Bishops of Münster until the 13th century. In the beginning of the 13th century the village was a loan of Münster, but the jurisdiction was transferred to the Duchy of Kleve.
