Arms (crest) of Bov

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1961.

The arms show a border mark, as the municipality is on the German-Danish border. The bridge is the bridge over the Gejl river, the blue base symbolises the river as well as the Kruså river and the Flensborg fjord.

The two oxen refer to the historical 'oxen-road' on which cattle was transported to Germany.
