Przedstawia on otwartą bramę miejską z czworokątną wieżą z dwoma otworami okiennymi, okna są podwójne. Brama o pięciu blankach w dolnej części oraz trzech w górnej, okrywa ją szpiczasty czerwony dach ze złota kulą. Po prawej stronie znajduje się księżyc w nowiu z twarzą, zaś po lewej słońce z twarzą. Nad i pod tymi elementami znajdują się gwiazdy w sumie cztery. Pod bramą na pustym polu znajduje szczupak z głową zwróconą w prawą stronę.
Origin/meaning
The arms of the city (German name Bolkenhain) are rather complex and are of medieval origin. The arms show a castle, some stars, a sun, crescent and fish.
The current arms are based on a seal form the 14th century showing 4 stars, sun, moon and fish around the tower. An older seal from 1329 shows only two stars. In the 1970s the arms were based on that seal, see below.
