Wappen von Birkungen

Official blazon

(de) In Rot eine silberne Birke, belegt mit einem roten Herzschild mit einem silbernen sechsspeichigen Rad.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 19, 1993.

The red and silver are the colours of the State of Mainz, as well as the Eichsfeld Region. The area is situated in the Eichsfeld and was historically part of Mainz. The small escutcheon shows the arms of the State of Mainz. The birch tree (Birke) is a canting element.
