BEUGNY

Département : Pas-de-Calais

Blason de Beugny/Arms (crest) of Beugny
Official blazon
French blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were proposed in 1996, but I have no idea whether the local council has adopted the arms.

Beugny, or formerly Beugny-le-Château, was in the 17th and 18th century a possession of the Wasservas family. The above arms are based on the (canting) arms of this family, and show in the upper half three aquifiers or water barrels (Wasser-Fass in German, or Water-vat in Dutch, depending on the origin of the family, which I don't know). The family held the estate until 1780.

The lower half shows a tower, a symbol for the former castle (Château) and thus for the old name of the village.
