BERNAU AM CHIEMSEE

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Rosenheim
Additions : 1978 Hittenkirchen (partly)

Wappen von Bernau am Chiemsee

Official blazon

In Silber über einem mit zwei durchgehenden silbernen Wellenbalken belegten blauen Dreiberg schwebend eine grüne Hausmarke.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 24, 1956.

The arms show in the upper half the symbol used by the local Seiser family, which played a major role in the local history. The lower half shows some mountains, symbol for the local mountains, and derived from the arms of the Lords of Aschau, who owned the village for a long time. The waves in the base symbolise the Chiemsee-lake.
