Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 27, 1990.

The boar in the upper half is the Calydonian Boar (or Aetolian Boar, one of the monsters in the ancient Greek mythology), the tusks of which are said to have been brought to Benevento by its founder Diomedes on his way back from the Trojan War.
