BATAKIAI

County : Tauragė
Municipality : Tauragė

Arms (crest) of Batakiai

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on December 28, 2006.

The bear refers to Samogitia, the club refers to the desperate fight against the Teutonic Order, and the flames refer to the suffering for freedom.

In the late 13th century the important Aukakaimis castle was located in the current municipality, and Teutonic Order attacked it many times till 1305, when the castle was finally burnt and the whole land was deserted for a century.
