Wappen von Barbecke/Arms (crest) of Barbecke
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on January 18, 1989.

The arms show three oak leaves are derived from the arms of the Von Barbecke family, who originated from the village and who used an oak tree in their arms. The three leaves refer to the three territories to which the village belonged during the middle ages; the duchies of Braunschweig-Lüneburg and Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel and the Archdiocese of Hildesheim. The colours are those of Hildesheim.

The division line refers to the last part of the name (-becke, or Bach, which means brook, stream), as well as to the fact that the village was on the border of the different duchies and the Archdiocese.
