BALZERS

Arms (crest) of Balzers

Official blazon

Im blauen Feld aufrecht einen goldenen Greif, mit roter Zunge und rot bewehrt.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 16, 1956.

The arms are based on those of the Barons of Frauenberg, who were Lords of Gutenberg Castle around 1300. The minnesinger Heinrich von Frauenberg is particularly well-known. The family is recorded in documents from 1257 till 1336.
