Origin/meaning
The arms were adopted on September 20, 2002.
The upper part of the arms show the cross of St. George. It symbolises the famous Battle of Balaklava as well as the St. George monastery in Balaklava. The wall symbolises the Chembalo fortress in the town. The golden bar shows a typical ancient Greek decoration, symbolising the settlement of ancient Greeks in the region. The three fish are a canting symbol, the name is derived from the Turkish Balıklava (a fish nest). The bunch of grapes symbolises the viticulture.
