Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1968.

The two bars are derived from the arms of the Counts and State of Oldenburg. The well symbolises the ancient well in the village, which was founded around 900. It is also a symbol for the health spa that has been developed in the municipality. The reeds symbolises the many marshlands around the village.
