Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1959 and show in the upper half the imperial eagle, for the imperial Estate of Boppard, to which the area belonged until 1306. In 1306 Boppard became a possession of the Archbishops of Trier. The lower part shows a fountain, symbol for the health resort in the town (Bad).
