Origin/meaning

The Arms were designed and granted in 1927.

The town belonged to the Fulda Abbey from the 9^th century until the 14^th century, when the Lords of Erbach acquired most of the rights. The cross in the arms is the cross of the State of Fulda, whereas the stars are derived from the arms of the Counts of Erbach. The oak tree is a symbol for the historical court (Centgericht) that was held for many centuries in the town.
