AÑASCO

Arms (crest) of Añasco

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms are based in design and colours on the one from which they probably are derived; that is, that of Captain Luis de Añasco, companion of Captain Juan Ponce de León in his first trip of exploration and colonization of Puerto Rico. perpetual in the population. The four scallop shells were added to the arms, to remember the last name of the founder of Añasco, Don José de Santiago, because these shells represent Apostle James (Santiago in Spanish), Patron of Spain.
