Official blazon

Escudo de prata, semeado de ramos de oliveira de verde, frutados de negro, uma cruz da Ordem de Avis; em campanha, ponte romana de negro, lavrada de prata, movente dos flancos e nascente de um pé ondado de azul e prata. Coroa mural de prata de três torres. Listel branco com a legenda a negro em maiúsculas : “ AZOIA DE CIMA “.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 17, 2000.

The Roman bridge refer to the longtime inhabitation of the area. The cross of Aviz symbolise sthe possessions of the Order of Aviz in the municipality. The many small olive branches indicate the importance of olive cultivation in the parish.
