AVINYONET DE PUIGVENTÓS

Region : Catalonia
Province : Girona

Escudo de Avinyonet de Puigventós

Official blazon

Escut caironat: d'argent, un sarment de vinya pampolat de sinople i fruitat d'un raïm de porpra; el peu de gules, una creu plena d'argent. Per timbre una corona mural de poble.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 5, 1984.

Canting arms: they show a grape because the name of the village reminds a "vinya" (Catalan for "vineyard"). The silver cross on gules is the Hospitaller Cross; in fact, Avinyonet was the centre of a command of the Order of the Saint John of Jerusalem in 1257.
