Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 5, 1984.

Canting arms: they show a grape because the name of the village reminds a "vinya" (Catalan for "vineyard"). The silver cross on gules is the Hospitaller Cross; in fact, Avinyonet was the centre of a command of the Order of the Saint John of Jerusalem in 1257.
