Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 20, 1992.

The staff and sword refer to the local patron saint, St. Martin, bishop and soldier. The arms show also the royal sign of the four red pales on gold, because Avià was repopulated by Guifré I of Barcelona. Literature:
