AUGUSTDORF

State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) :Lippe (until 1972 Detmold)

Augustdorf.jpg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 25, 1951.

The arms show some symbols from the local history. The village was founded in 1789 and was named after Count Simon August zur Lippe (who had died in 1782), which explains the rose of Lippe. The villagers first had to cultivate the ground (tools) before they were able to grow grains (chief). The other main source of income in the 19th century was to keep bees for honey (hive).

The description of the arms from 1951 does not mention the colours of the blades of the spades. In the 1960s the arms were thus shown with blue blades (see below), whereas presently the municipality uses silver blades.
