Wappen von Aufkirchen/Arms (crest) of Aufkirchen
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

Aufkirchen received city rights around 1290 and the oldest known seal dates from 1342. The seal already shows the Royal Eagle and was a symbol for the castle in the town built and owned by the Staufen dynasty, Kings and Emperors in the 13th century. Even though Aufkirchen did not develop into a large or important city, the arms with the eagle remained in use during the centuries.
