Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 1, 1963.

The arms symbolise the three large waterfalls in the municipality, the Solbergfoss, Kykkelsrudfoss an Vammafoss. The rivers and waterfalls are also partially harnessed for hydro-electric power.
