This composition of a man standing towards a wall (?) is already seen on the oldest known seal of the village, dating from 1492. The seal has been used until 1580 and again in the 19th century. In between the village used the letters A and M (Amt Madenburg) and three stars on its seals. The meaning of the man is not known, although a canting element (from Arz-Heim) can not be excluded.

ARZHEIM

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
Urban district (Stadtkreis) : Landau in der Pfalz
Incorporated into: 1972 Landau in der Pfalz

Wappen von Arzheim/Arms (crest) of Arzheim
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 21, 1956.

The arms reflect the fact that Arzheim belonged to the Madenburg Amt of the diocese and State of Speyer until 1680, and as a separate Amt from 1680-1793. The silver cross in blue is taken from the arms of Speyer, the lilies are the symbol of St. Mary and, together with the wall in the base, represent Madenburg (From Magden-burg or Marien-burg, castle of Mary).

Before 1956 the village used quite different unofficial arms, see below:

Wappen von Arzheim/Arms (crest) of Arzheim

This composition of a man standing towards a wall (?) is already seen on the oldest known seal of the village, dating from 1492. The seal has been used until 1580 and again in the 19th century. In between the village used the letters A and M (Amt Madenburg) and three stars on its seals. The meaning of the man is not known, although a canting element (from Arz-Heim) can not be excluded.
