The field is Gules and the charges Or. The Crest is a Lion rampant Or holding a Shield Argent charged with a Cross Azure. The Tumpets and Shield symbolises the work of a Herald. The Lion is a symbol of the Army, it is holding a Shield with the ancient Arms of Portugal. The Motto translates as "I sing of of arms and of a man" this is the begining of Virgil's Aeneid.
