Official blazon

Origin/meaning=

The arms were officially granted on October 17, 1962.

The tower is taken from the old seal of the city of Alpen and refers to the old fortifications of the city. The two plough irons are taken from the historical seal of Veen. The red and gold colours refer to the Duchy of Kleve, to which Birten and Veen historically belonged; whereas silver and black refer to the State of Köln, to which Alpen and Menzelen belonged.
