ALMERSWIND

State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Sonneberg
Incorporated into : 1994 Schalkau

Wappen von Almerswind/Arms (crest) of Almerswind
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were devised in 1991 for the 700th anniversary of the village. The wheel symbolises the water, the economy and the former Lords of Almerswind. The gold in the first field is a symbol for the gold which is found in the area. The eagle is derived from the arms of the Lords of Enkevorth, who used three eagles in their arms. The bars are derived from the arms of the Lords of Uttenhoven and are at the same time a symbol for the trees and the forestry in the area.
