ALLENDORF/LAHN

State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Giessen
Incorporated into: 1971 Giessen

Wappen von Allendorf/Lahn/Arms (crest) of Allendorf/Lahn
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in 2005 by the local council.

The arms show a blue chief for the Lahn river, which forms the Northern border of the municipality. The wavy blue bend symbolises the Kleebach brook, that runs through the village. The winged lion is the lion of Giessen, to which the village belongs. The red, or Swiss, cross refers to the nickname of the villagers, "Schweizer" (Swiss). The combination of colours is also identical to the colours of Hessen.
