Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1925.
Ainaži was initially a village of Livonian fishers. Its name means "lonely" in Livonian, because it was the only one village on large environs.
In the middle of the 19th century a group of Latvian and Estonian masters established in Ainaži a small shipyard of sailboats.
