AIGEN IM ENNSTAL

State : Steiermark
District : Liezen

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 9, 1959.

The three objects on the bend are blazoned as three loaves (or rolls) of butter. They stand for the Counts Putterer (literally, butter-maker), who held lands in the municipality and built the so-called Putterer-Schlößl (Schlößl is a diminutive of Schloß and means a small castle).

The tree may symbolize wood industry in the region. The bird probably stands for the Bundesheer (army) air base at Aigen.
