AGEN-D'AVEYRON

Département : Aveyron

Blason de Agen-d'Aveyron

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The leopard is taken from the arms of the 15th century Lords of Agen. The oak tree and the division line symbolise the Palanges forest. The crosier refers to the St. Sernin abbey near Rodez, to which the village historically belonged. The bunches of wood refer to the fact that the villagers collected wood for the ovens in Rodez. The cross in chief is the cross of the Languedoc and was part of the arms of the Counts of Toulouse.
