Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 20, 1967.

The village received in 1492 certain freedoms from the archbishop of Köln. Probably at the same time a seal was made. It showed the (modified) arms of the State of Köln, with St. Lambertus of Maastricht as supporter, the local patron saint. Thearms are based on this seal.

The historical arms were in red a silver cross, and Meyer published in 1940 in his book only the cross, not the supporter.

Hupp red-designed the arms with the black cross of Köln. :
