Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen)

ABTSWIND

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Kitzingen
Verwaltungsgemeinschaft : Wiesentheid

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 10, 1966.

The arms combine a crosier with the fox from the arms of the Dornheim family. The village was likely founded by the Abbey of M√ľnsterschwarzach, which ruled the village until the 16th century. In the 16th century the village became a possession of the Lords Fuchs von Dornheim. The latter used the canting fox (Fuchs) as their arms. The arms thus refer to both the abbey and the Lords.
