ABERFELDY (Burgh)

Incorporated into : 1975: Perth and Kinross

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were never officially granted.

I have no information on the meaning of these arms.

The town seal, designed in 1892 showed a different design, as can be seen below. The seal showed the Black Watch Memorial, flanked by an old ferry boat to and General Wade's Bridge. The motto was "S Dluth Tric Bat Abairpheallaidh", meaning "Swift and often as the boat to Aberfeldy". The Black Watch was afamous Highland regiment and was engaged in a battle in 1739 just North of the bridge. The memorial was erected in 1887. General Wade built the bridge in 1733 and replaced the famous local ferry.
