Shield: Gules, a chevron Or charged with a chevronel Azure, in chief five fleurs-de-lis of the second.
Crest: That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Wisconsin Army National Guard: On a wreath of the colors Or and Gules, a badger couchant Proper.
Motto: EAGER TO ASSIST.

Distinctive Unit Insignia. Description: A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 5/64 inches (2.74 cm) in height overall consisting of the shield, crest and motto of the coat of arms.

Origin/meaning

The shield is red for Artillery. The colors of the chevron and the chevronel – yellow and blue – are the colors of the arms of service from which the organization was developed. The combination of the colors, red, blue and yellow, form the colors of the Puerto Rican Occupation medal ribbon indicating the service of Battery A in Puerto Rico. The five fleurs-de-lis symbolize the five major engagements of the organization in France during World War I.

The coat of arms was originally approved for the 120th Field Artillery Regiment, Wisconsin Army National Guard on 26 April 1929. It was redesignated for the 120th Field Artillery Battalion on 24 April 1942. It was redesignated for the 120th Artillery Regiment on 3 January 1964. The insignia was redesignated for the 120th Field Artillery Regiment on 11 July 1972. The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 120th Field Artillery Regiment, Wisconsin Army National Guard on 26 April 1929. It was amended to add the crest on 31 May 1929. It was redesignated for the 120th Field Artillery Battalion on 24 April 1942. It was redesignated for the 120th Artillery Regiment on 3 January 1964. The insignia was redesignated for the 120th Field Artillery Regiment on 11 July 1972.
