Origin/meaning

The arms are those of Sund, continued by the new municipality in 2020.

The previous arms were adopted by the municipality in 1966.

Arms of Øygarden

The arms show a reference buoy. The municipality consists of a number of islands and is dependent on the sea for its development. Hence the importance on buoys for safety in the municipality.
