Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 25, 2000.

The shield is divided by a horizontal strip into two equal parts; in the top half of shield on azure background, symbolizing greatness, the blast-furnace of 18th century is represented - as a reflection of historical past of Altai Region. In the bottom part of the shield on a red background, symbolizing dignity, bravery and courage, the image of Kolyvan's "Queen of Vases" is placed (jasper with prevalence of green colour, this vase is kept in the Hermitage).

The shield is decorated with wreath of gold ears, symbolizing the agriculture as main banch of economy of Altai Region.
