DRAWSKO POMORSKIE

Province: Pomorze Zachodnie
County: Drawsko

Herb Drawska Pomorskiego

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms show a city gate with the eagle of Brandenburg in the gate. It probably indicates that the village was granted city rights from the counts of Brandenburg. The same picture can already be seen on the oldest known seals of the city, hanging on a charter dating from 1401, but which is probably older. In the course of the centuries the basic composition did not change, althought he shape of the gate changed according to the style of time. In the 16th and 17th centuries often a crown was placed above the gate, but it disappeared again in the 19th century. The eagle once was displayed as the Prussian eagle, holding a sword and balance.
