UNNA (UN)
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 23, 1938.
The arms are a combination of the lion and the chequered bar of the Counts of the Mark. Their oldest arms showed a red lion, later they used the chequered bar. The city was one of the major strongholds of the influential Counts and was one of the most important cities in a large area in the Middle Ages.
