KLOVAINIAI

County : Šiauliai
Municipality : Pakruojis

Klovaini.jpg

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 19, 1997.

Klovainiai was first mentioned as an estate in the 16th century and received market and other privileges in the 17th century. The town was owned by the Valavicius and Karpis families.

The arms are partly canting, the name of the town is supposedly derived from the word 'klonioti', or a horse playing in the fields. In addition, the Karpis family had a large stud breeding farm near the town, and the horse is a symbol of strength.
