Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 8, 1975.
The two palm trees are canting, these are called buriti, buritizal meaning a plantation of these palm trees. The bordure shows the symbol of the patron saint of the city, St. Mary. The golden colour indicates the wealth of the city.
The shield is surrounded by coffee and corn branches, the main agricultural crops in the area.
