Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 9, 1979.

Hollenegg boasts a beautiful castle, possessing two towers of unmistakable design, dating from the 16^th century, when the castle was brought up to Renaissance standards. One of these has been put in the shield.

The other charge, the so-called Dalkenpfanne, is part of the historic arms of the Hollenegg family. Dalkenpfanne means "frying pan", literally, Dalken being a traditional sort of baker's ware, fried in hot fat. Originally it is supposed to have been a blossom of Holunder or Holler (local dialect), meaning elder; an attempt to explain the name of the castle.
