Origin/meaning

The arms show the local patron saint, St. Catherine in front of a Gothic church portal. The two small shields show the arms of the Counts of Hohenstein, Lords of the town in the 14^th century. The arms first appeared on the local seals in the 14^th century during the reign of Count Günter von Hohenstein.
